Car recovery

A breakdown, accident or non-running vehicle can need different recovery equipment. Tell us where the vehicle is, where it needs to go and whether it rolls so the request includes the right details.

Sign in or create an account to continue. Review your quote before payment.

What does it cost?

Standard recovery starts with a £80 call-out plus £2.75 per loaded mile for the 3.5t truck class. The 7.5t class is £100 plus £3.75 per loaded mile. These are base rates, not a quote for every job.

Night and other applicable extras are shown in the itemised quote. A price does not guarantee immediate dispatch.

What to have ready

  • Exact pickup and destination, including the entrance and direction of travel.
  • Registration, vehicle details and whether it rolls, steers and has accessible keys.
  • Any accident damage, off-road position, electric drivetrain or access restrictions.

Recovery or roadside help?

If the problem is a flat battery, tyre or lack of fuel, a roadside service may be appropriate. If the vehicle cannot be made mobile, recovery moves it to your chosen destination. Select the problem first rather than assuming every breakdown needs a tow.

What changes the price?

Loaded distance, truck class, accident recovery, non-rolling wheels, electric vehicles, motorway location and time of day can affect the total. Check the itemised quote before payment. A registration lookup may need you to confirm missing model or size information.

Who carries out the job?

TowMate arranges the booking with an independent recovery partner. A quote is not confirmation that a driver has accepted. Allocation and arrival depend on a suitable partner being available; follow the booking status for updates.

Before requesting roadside help

If there is immediate danger, call 999. For a breakdown on a motorway or another high-speed road, follow the official guidance before using the booking flow.
